PathWay College Outreach Ministry began with a burden for America’s college Youth. Australian missionaries Santiago and Jackie Olortegui witnessed how the Lord used circumstances in their lives to show them a mission field in the United States – among colleges and universities students.
Since 2004, Santiago had been approached by college students on several occasions asking him to use his identification to buy alcohol. He realized that there was a genuine need to reach college students, and as he began to pray for those ministering to colleges, a burden started to grow.
While at a mission’s conference in Massachusetts in March 2010, Santiago met several Christian college organizations, and he offered to help them. However, there was one major problem: those organizations did not have a ministry in Burlington, NC. So, they asked Santiago to pray about “starting something” and they also challenged him to starting a college ministry.
But before beginning this ministry, Santiago faced, what seemed to be, impossible challenges. However, after much prayer the Lord confirmed each step and provided the Olorteguis with a team and a location to host Bible studies rent free. PathWay was born in October 7th, 2010.
